Berwick hash beer festival and Sunday Run
September 4 @ 7:00 pm – September 6 @ 5:00 pm
Unfortunately Covid-19 has scuppered the beer festival, but we won’t let this keep us down, instead we will bring our own beer festival to Berwick!
The plan is simple, collect a mix of beers and meet up on Saturday in the sweltering sunshine on the parade ground (where the beer festival is normally held). There we will have our own beer and food festival, with awards being given to the best and most impressive beers. The awards will be:
- Best bottle/can design
- Most far reaching beer (most distant or hard to reach location)
- Most expensive beer
- Strongest beer
- Best Alcohol free beer
- Best “other” alcoholic drink
- Best Stout
- And the ultimate prize – best tasting beer
To allow judging, please all bring your own drinking vessel if you would like to share beers, with the owner of said beer pouring into peoples tankards, maintaining socially distance protocols.
For those needing earlier stimulation, we will be frequenting a social bubble pub crawl of some of the local hostelries on the Friday night! Accomodation will be for yourself to organise, but a few of us will be staying at the YHA which I can certainly recommend!
Come the Sunday we will have an official Newcastle trail (yes you heard it right folks – an official trail!) around Berwick-upon-tweed. There will be both a walkers and runners route available. It will start from the Railway station at 11:30, allowing for trains from Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow to make it on time. The On-Inn will be Castle Hotel opposite the station.
This all should be done as per the government guidelines and it is your responsibility to maintain to these during these festivities!
